The Lawnmowers Independent Theatre Company
In 2011 Lawnmowers Theatre company embarked on a year long project, bringing together learning disabled artists from companies from the North East regions of England and Brazil. Boomba down the Tyne was a collaboration between Lawnmowers, Opaxorô and Orquestra Sertão. This large scale performance captured the essence and artistic traditions of our two regions within a unique theatrical and musical experience, showcasing our spirited cultures. This performance included a SambaCeilidh; a marriage of two of our traditional dance forms. Boomba Down the Tyne was commissioned by the Unlimited programme, part of the 2012 Festival.
