Counting The Lights In The Darkness

Headway Arts

Counting the Lights In The Darkness TWENTY is one of an ongoing series of digital artworks and live online performances produced by Headway Arts over Summer/Autumn 2020 supported by ArtsCouncil England and Northumberland CC.  Our #HAcommunity of learning disabled creatives, have been creating everyday together online during lockdown, expressing responses to Covid19 through making art together. Each piece is named after a number, inspired by actor Tim Longrigg ‘counting the days until we can all be together again in our lovely StarSpace’.  We see our company days together as lights guiding us through strange uncertain times. We made this joyful dance/art film during The Stars! first physical meet up on 20th August 2020 on a glorious day at Blyth Beach not far from our base Headway ArtSpace which is The National Centre for Arts & Inclusion. Other live performances in the series (so far) are TWENTY FIVE (our 25th Birthday event), SIX, ONE and FIVE SEVEN FIVE.

Connect LD+ : Headway Arts and The Lawnmowers have long been supportive friends and colleagues enjoying sharing the bill at many events (including Headway’s Annual Come Down Festival of arts by and for learning disabled people).  We are both part of the Creative Minds network and other initiatives developing the work of learning disabled artists and our fantastic sector. This also gives us a chance to have nice chat!
