Theatre Outreach is a group of individuals with learning disabilities who collaborate with and train various professionals offering services, support, or care for people with learning disabilities. They develop theatre-based training packages in partnership with professionals and specialists to address issues affecting individuals with learning disabilities.

Theatre Outreach has worked on health inequalities with the nursing school at Northumbria University, explored dental hygiene with researchers from Newcastle University, and partnered with a Community Engagement Officer from Northumbria Police to examine Mate Crime. Theatre Outreach’s primary goal is to educate and raise awareness about the inequalities faced by people with learning disabilities.

The group strives to bring about positive changes in services and care, drawing on real-life, lived experiences to deliver workshops both in person and digitally across the country (and beyond if needed). Theatre Outreach measures success by the point at which every professional who interacts with someone who has a learning disability feels equipped to provide the best possible experience for the learning-disabled community.
